Cave Bar More – Unique Cave Bar in Dubrovnik

Cave Bar More is located in a natural limestone cave carved into the rocks beneath Hotel More and is today one of the most famous bars in Dubrovnik.

Modern, elegant and unique, this cave bar in Dubrovnik is the perfect place to enjoy cocktails while admiring the natural architecture and watching the sunset over Lapad Bay. Cave Bar More is often mentioned as one of the most distinctive bars in Croatia, and numerous media outlets and guests rank it among the most attractive bars in the world.

A Natural Cave That Became Dubrovnik’s Most Unique Bar

Before it became one of the most distinctive bars in Dubrovnik, the space of Cave Bar More was a natural cave shaped over centuries by the influence of sea and stone.

Its discovery happened by chance during the construction of the hotel, when a natural opening was found beneath the foundations. The hotel owner decided to preserve this natural treasure and transform it into an attractive cocktail bar in Dubrovnik.

Some of the cave formations inside the cave are approximately 8,000 years old, making this space a unique combination of natural heritage and contemporary design. Instead of adapting nature to the interior, the interior was adapted to nature — the rocks remained dominant, irregular and authentic.

This is how Cave Bar More was created — a cave bar in Dubrovnik that feels as if it has always been part of the Adriatic coast.

Cave Architecture and Seaside Terrace in Lapad Bay

Spreading across three levels within a natural limestone cave, Cave Bar More covers 280 square metres of unique space. The most impressive part of the cave is located about 40 metres from the sea and reaches a height of 23 metres, while the lower section fills with seawater.

A carefully carved tunnel leads to a seaside terrace overlooking Lapad Bay in Dubrovnik. This combination — cave, sea and sunset — is exactly why many people search for the best sunset bar in Dubrovnik.

The temperature inside the cave during summer does not exceed 24°C, making Cave Bar More an ideal place to refresh during the hot Dubrovnik summer days.

Signature Cocktails and the Best Sunset Bar in Dubrovnik

The offer at Cave Bar is carefully curated and includes more than 60 cocktails, including signature creations crafted by the Cave Bar’s cocktail master.

If you are looking for a cocktail bar in Dubrovnik with a unique atmosphere, Cave Bar More offers thoughtfully designed combinations, premium drinks and a selection of light bites.

However, the most special moment comes at sunset. Sunset at Cave Bar More is one of the most popular experiences in Lapad. At that time the terrace becomes a lively meeting point, while the sky shifts from golden to copper tones and the sea reflects the final rays of light.

One of the Most Attractive Bars in the World

Cave Bar More has been listed among the most distinctive hotel bars in the world by The Delta Air Lines Sky Magazine, while Thrillist Media Group ranked it among the most attractive bars globally.

In this company are Icebar in Sweden, Sky Bar in Thailand, Rock Bar in Indonesia and Terrace in Mexico.

Case Study: Hotel More’s New Website Design

Guest author: Jelena Gvozdanović, PAPIR I OLOVKA

Hotel More is one of those truly special places. An elegant hideaway nestled among pine trees and rolling waves, offering guests peace, comfort and a sense of being genuinely cared for at every turn. It’s the perfect blend of refinement, warmth and natural beauty – a little slice of paradise.

For many visitors, their very first encounter with the hotel happens online. That made it essential for the website to capture that same atmosphere and charm. Our challenge was to create a digital experience that feels just as smooth, calming and inviting as a stay at the hotel itself.

Where It All Began

Our aim was to design a website that feels contemporary, clear and easy to navigate, yet still faithful to the spirit of the hotel. A site that conveys digitally what guests experience in person: views of the sea, elegant interiors and meticulous attention to detail.

We wanted visitors to sense the hotel’s quiet luxury and serenity from the very first click.

Design Elements

We started with Hotel More’s refreshed visual identity. Using the brand guidelines and the creative brief as our foundation, we defined a visual style that mirrors the hotel’s atmosphere – the elegance, tranquillity and understated luxury that greet every guest the moment they step into Lapad Bay.

One of the most memorable aspects of this location is its sunsets. From Hotel More, the view of the sun dipping into the sea is completely uninterrupted. The golden hues dancing across the surface of Lapad Bay are so iconic that they were incorporated into the hotel’s visual identity. For the website, we chose the logo’s golden shade as the primary background colour. Paired with the hotel’s deep navy brand colour, it created a warm, calming browsing experience.

We carefully wove that golden tone throughout the design, even applying it to the hotel photography to achieve a sense of cohesion and harmony.

Two complementary brand typefaces – a striking, modern typeface for headings and a more classic one for body text and links – helped us create the right balance between contemporary design and timeless elegance.

A Guided Digital Journey

Beyond accommodation, Hotel More offers a wide array of experiences, from restaurants and a wellness centre to its unique cave bar. The new website needed to present everything clearly without overwhelming visitors. Our focus was simplicity: making sure guests can easily find what they’re looking for, whether they’re browsing on a phone, tablet or computer.

Equally important was ensuring intuitive navigation and a fast, seamless booking process. Today’s users expect information instantly and want to book their stay without any hurdles. For that reason, every section of the website was thoughtfully structured, guiding visitors naturally through the hotel’s story, with the path to booking made as straightforward as possible.

A Collaborative Effort

From start to finish, the process was open, collaborative and wonderfully creative. Together with the Hotel More team, we exchanged ideas and shaped the content based on their insights into what guests most often look for. This collaboration once again highlighted how valuable it is to combine design expertise with the client’s real-world knowledge and the needs of their guests.

The final result is a website that extends the hotel’s philosophy into the digital space: a place where beauty, comfort and attention to detail make every encounter special. Its new look is far more than a visual update — it’s a digital experience that reflects the hotel’s unique atmosphere, inspires visitors and guides them effortlessly through every part of their stay.

18 years of Hotel More – a story of the people who built it

When we say that Hotel More is celebrating 18 years, we’re not just counting seasons and guests. We’re counting moments – those that have woven this story, from the idea that became reality to this very day, when we can proudly say that we have become a home to many: our employees, our guests, and our friends.

I have been with Hotel More since the very first day, though not always in the front row.
I watched it come to life, grow, and face every challenge and every solution – each one carrying a story of perseverance, passion, and the vision of my parents, our entire family, and everyone who believed that it was possible to create a hotel with a soul in Dubrovnik.

How It All Began

Like every success story, this one began in the mind of one man — my father — who once again proved in his life that obstacles and challenges, in the hands of brave and determined people, can turn the impossible into the extraordinary.

After some forty years of a successful career in IT, his restless spirit could not stay still. A lover of the sea, creative and driven by the desire to create added value, he decided to embark on the project of building a hotel on the foundations of a derelict holiday resort from times gone by.

The story of the cave best reflects his character.

During the construction, when one of the machines nearly sank into the ground, instead of simply concreting over the hole as everyone advised him to do, my father decided to widen it — and discovered the cave beneath the foundations of Hotel More.

Today, it is our gem – Cave Bar More – thanks to his curiosity and his lifelong approach to tackling challenges.
His rule was simple: get into the problem, get your hands dirty, and only then decide.

It all began with a love for the sea — and the desire to turn that love into a place where people would come for peace, beauty, and a sense of belonging.
From the very first day, the idea was simple yet demanding:
To be luxurious, yet warm.
Professional, yet genuine.
Dubrovnik, but with our own signature.

What Has Shaped Us

Every season, every challenge, and every guest has taught us something. Continuous progress is in our DNA. We know that standing still is never an option.

And what I value most — are the people who make this hotel what it is. Our employees who have been with us for years, who arrive before dawn and leave when the last guests go to bed. Those who have helped, and continue to help us truly be called a family-run hotel — offering our guests a warm welcome to their new home.
The people who have made Hotel More into what we always wanted it to be — a place with soul and character.

Gratitude

Thank you to everyone who believed in this story.
To our guests, who come and return because they find here something that cannot be measured by the number of stars.
To our team, who know that warmth cannot be faked — and that it is, in fact, the most important ingredient of true comfort.
And to our family, who have invested themselves, their years, their ideas, and their love.

A Glimpse into the Future

Today, after 18 years, Hotel More is mature, yet still curious. We enter every new season with the same excitement, aware that true value lies not in how much we have grown, but in how faithfully we have remained ourselves.

For me, Hotel More is not just a business.
It is a space of emotion, responsibility, and pride — with a promise that we will continue to create moments to remember. It is the only right way for the new generation of our family to add their contribution to all that came before — and to all that has been entrusted to us.

So, thank you to everyone who is part of our story.
Thank you, Mum and Dad.
And thank you to the sea — for reminding us every day that depth is never on the surface.

Ivana Popović,
Owner of Hotel More

Three Kitchens, Three Chefs: A Culinary Journey at Hotel More

At Hotel More, every stay offers more — and when it comes to dining, that promise comes alive in three exceptional Dubrovnik restaurants. Each kitchen tells its own story, guided by passionate chefs who transform the finest local ingredients into unforgettable experiences. From traditional flavours to contemporary creations, our culinary offerings invite you to enjoy a true dining experience.

Restaurant More — Where More is Always on the Menu

Celebrating 18 years alongside the hotel, Restaurant More is a true cornerstone of tradition and elegance. Nestled in the heart of Lapad Bay, the restaurant welcomes guests with its iconic floral wall, a vibrant introduction to the refined Mediterranean dining experience within.

Led by Chef Maro Bajurin, a founding member of our culinary family, the à la carte menu blends regional Mediterranean cuisine with international touches. Dining at Restaurant More is as much about the spectacle as the flavours: watch as your tartare is prepared tableside or be enchanted by a flambé performance before your eyes.

Restaurant Tramuntana — The Sea, the View, and the Taste of Seafood

Situated within Hotel More, Restaurant Tramuntana welcomes guests to a chic and contemporary setting, where the panoramic views of Lapad Bay complement an exceptional seafood experience. Dining here becomes a sensory journey, guided by the skill and creativity of Chef Mario Milutinović and his dedicated team.

The menu showcases the finest selection of Adriatic seafood, prepared with care and precision, including highlights such as Popara — a harmonious combination of monkfish tail, prawns, scampi, sea bass fillet, mini tomatoes, fish broth, potatoes, and parsley. Every dish is thoughtfully presented, engaging both the eyes and the palate, and reflecting the chef’s passion for flavour and authenticity.

Restaurant Natali — Treat Yourself to a True Luxury Experience

Tucked within the serene gardens of the 16th-century Palace Natali, this restaurant offers a quiet sanctuary where every visit feels like stepping into a world of timeless elegance and refined simplicity. The historic setting, with its stone walls, aromatic herbs, and gentle Mediterranean breeze, sets the stage for an intimate culinary journey.

At Natali, the focus is on the experience — on moments of taste, texture, and discovery. Chef Duje Smajo, shaped by years in Michelin-starred kitchens across Europe, leads the kitchen with a philosophy rooted in authenticity and intuition. Every dish is inspired by the seasons, the garden, and the essence of the Adriatic, combining Mediterranean tradition with contemporary techniques and subtle international influences. Signature dishes include turbot fillet with tempura and vongole sauce, boneless frenched rack of lamb with truffle purée, and a beetroot, goat cheese, and hazelnut ensemble.

At Hotel More, every dining experience is designed to create moments that linger — from the classic charm of Restaurant More, to the chic seafood delights of Tramuntana, and the refined, gastronomy journey at Natali. Each restaurant reflects a distinct approach to cuisine, led by chefs who invite you to enjoy food with all your senses.

This year, all three of our restaurants are proud participants in the Good Food Festival (6th–19th October 2025), presenting specially curated menus that celebrate the flavours and creativity of our chefs. Join us and discover thoughtfully designed dishes, exceptional pairings, and unforgettable moments. Stay tuned, more information to come!

More Than a Stay: A Wellbeing Experience

What is wellbeing, really? It’s more than a buzzword. It’s the balance between movement and rest, the quiet joy of breathing deeply, of feeling grounded – in your body, in your mind, and in your surroundings.
It’s a choice to take care of yourself. Gently, purposefully, and with presence.

At Hotel More, we believe wellbeing isn’t just something you do – it’s something you feel.

It’s a perfect place to begin your morning: for a jog by the water, a mindful walk, or simply a moment to breathe in the salt-kissed air.

If you prefer the water, the sea is just metres away. Swim in the calm, clear sea beneath dramatic cliffs, or take your laps in one of our two outdoor pools, both offering views that inspire stillness and focus.

Inside, our newly opened gym offers a modern, light-filled space for movement. Equipped with everything you need for a balanced workout – from cardio machines to free weights – it’s a space that supports strength, mobility, and the simple pleasure of movement.

After Movement, Comes Rest

True wellbeing is found in the pause. In the moments of stillness that allow the body and mind to recover, reset, and soften.

Our hotel offers a full selection of professional massage treatments, each delivered by experienced therapists and tailored to your needs. From deeply restorative deep tissue massage to calming, aromatic treatments designed to ease stress and tension, every touch is intentional.

Nourishment with Intention

Wellbeing begins on the inside – and we believe food should support both body and soul.
Our restaurants celebrate fresh, seasonal ingredients, with a special focus on Dalmatian seafood, locally grown vegetables, and dishes prepared with balance and care.
From grilled fish with olive oil and herbs, to light, nourishing lunches and colourful smoothies, every meal is an opportunity to replenish.

Whether dining by the sea or enjoying breakfast on your balcony, our culinary experience is designed to make you feel well – never rushed, and always in tune with the day.

Your Private Space to Recharge

Everything here invites you to slow down, move mindfully, and reconnect with yourself. This isn’t about escaping life – it’s about returning to it, with more clarity, more ease, and yes – more energy.

Welcome to Hotel More.

Lapad, everybody’s favorite neighborhood

The name Lapad has today become almost synonymous with ‘Uvala Lapad’ (Lapad bay), the gorgeous cove that stages the city’s best sunsets, but Lapad is much more than just a strip of beaches. This large peninsula is one the town’s biggest neighborhoods, as well as a popular destination for beachgoers, coffee-drinkers, nature lovers, walkers, hikers, and families with children.

The peninsula of Lapad juts out at Boninovo and connects back to the mainland in Gruž, at Batala, the short uphill street that was once a creek. During the city’s earliest days, everything west of the old town was called Gruž; the peninsula likewise. The first mention of Lapad by name happened in 1168; the name likely came from the word “lapide”, used to describe its rocky, karst terrain.

Those first mentions of Lapad mainly referred to the petite churches scattered all over. Some have since disappeared, some remain ruinous, but some still play a vital role in the local traditions. Such is the Church of St. Blaise at Gorica hill, originally built in the 13th century, which still has an important place in the city’s greatest celebration, the Festivity of Saint Blaise, the patron saint. While the main procession takes place in the old town on February 3, the festivities close a week later, with a mass, gathering and a festive program at Gorica Sv. Vlaha across the town.

During the Renaissance, the north-facing shores of Lapad became the town’s Riviera, luring aristocrats to build their summer estates here. Of the few that remain, the 16th-century summer residence of Petar Sorkočević is a truly eye-catching sight that shows the beauty of the Renaissance in full splendor. Poised on the corner where the shores of Gruž become the coast of Lapad, today it houses the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Until the 20th century, Lapad remains an area of pristine nature dotted with an occasional church or waterfront villa; a total of 774 residents was recorded in 1921. Today, there are around 12,000; clearly, the 20th century was a busy one.

At its very beginning, the opening of a tram line that connected Lapad to Pile made this area more accessible and kickstarted the development of the first modern-day hotels. Hotel Lapad, located just down the street from Petar Sorkočević estate, was built in 1911, and is still today in operation. The hotels now known as Maestral, which sit directly across from hotel More, started with the hotel Splendid in 1938, and then kept adding one hotel each decade. In the 1970s, the second infrastructural boom that included expanding the network of roads, sewage and waterworks happened thanks to the construction of the expansive Babin Kuk resort complex, as well as hotel Palace.

Nowadays, Lapad is enjoying another boom, brought on by Dubrovnik’s mega popularity with visitors from all over the world. This year, hotel More is celebrating our coming of age, 18 years since we became a part of the history of Lapad.

Thankfully, much of the peninsula’s gorgeous nature sustained despite all the construction. The green Petka hills remain protected forest areas that are crisscrossed with hiking trails. A lovely footpath wraps all around the peninsula, allowing you to reach Gruž Bay from Lapad walking along the seafront all the way. Some of the city’s best-known beaches sit along that trail, as well as many parks, olive orchards, but also restaurants and cafes.

While Lapad has changed and continues to change quickly, one thing fortunately remains the same: it still has that ‘riviera feel’ to it, and a local vibe that makes you feel like you too are living the Dubrovnik life, not just visiting.

Inspired by the historical charm of our Dubrovnik 16th-century villa, Palace Natali. “Winter in Natali” brings the flavours of winter in a glass – rich in cinnamon aromas and warmth, making it the perfect pick-me-up for cold days. Coffee lovers will especially enjoy this one, as its creamy texture reminds you of tiramisu, only in an even better version!

Ingredients:
Shot of espresso
3 cl dark Bacardi
3 cl Baileys liqueur
2 cl Kahlúa liqueur
1 cl sugar syrup

Decoration: Top the cocktail with cappuccino foam and lightly sprinkle with cinnamon for an extra winter vibe.

Share your creations with us on social media – we’re excited to see your unique takes and all the fun moments you’ve had with these cocktails! We hope these drinks bring some warmth to your winter and make the wait for our spring reopening a little shorter. Cheers, and until the next time, stay cool wink!
